Grant Opportunity

The Healthy South Carolina Initiative (HSCI), a partnership formed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Eat Smart Move More South Carolina, the Medical University of South Carolina, and the South Carolina Tobacco Collaborative, announces the availability of approximately $1.25 million in funds to help fight chronic diseases in South Carolina.

Who Should Apply:
South Carolina coalitions, groups and service organizations that support the goal of the HSCI are eligible to apply.  Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to:

1. Non-Profits
2. Youth Groups
3. Schools
4. Civic Associations
5. Service Clubs
6. Health Care Organizations
7. Faith-Based Organizations
8. Parent Groups
9. Neighborhood Associations
10. Local Community Coalitions

SC Farm to School Photo Contest

The South Carolina Farm to School program is sponsoring a school garden photo contest.

Participation Guidelines

1. One photo per school may be submitted ELECTRONICALLY in each of the following categories:
            a. Students on the Farm
            b. Students in the Garden
            c. What Farm to School Means to Me

2. Photos must be submitted electronically in jpeg files to your Clemson Regional Coordinators.
           a. Lowcountry- Lynn Adcox (ladcox@clemson.edu)
           b. Midlands- Karen Franklin (frankl4@clemson.edu)
           c. Upstate- Yenory Hernandez (hernanh@clemson.edu)

3. Photos must be received by May 1, 2012 in order to be considered for the photo contest.

4. One winner in each category, per region, will be selected. Winners will be announced on May 15, 2012 and received recognition and a special award.
